Our Story

In 2008, Delta County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, was ready to seize 16 neglected horses from a Rapid River farm. The County had neither a location to shelter the horses nor the funds to provide for their care. I had been following the case and was referred to Jill McDermott, owner of Flagship Farm, as she was known for helping animals and people in need of encouragement on their journey. Jill stepped up the way she always does, with faith and enthusiasm, and she welcomed all of the horses into her care, including a surprise foal that was born shortly after their arrival. The following year, the County seized 16 more horses from the same farm, and Jill took them in too! This brought the rescue total to 33. With little financial assistance, Jill saw to it that all 33 received food, health care, and training. Through her Trainer’s Challenges of 2010 and 2011 and the donated efforts of talented trainers, the horses went to new homes with a much brighter future! Since then she has rehabbed, retrained, and re-homed many others…I admit I’ve lost count, Jill could tell you each one’s story. In January 2011, Jill received the Michigan Veterinary Association Community Service Award “to honor an individual who has devoted an extraordinary amount of time and financial resources to a particular project or activity of benefit to the community and the veterinary profession”. Jill and I became good friends during these years. Jill is an equestrian, equine massage therapist, human massage therapist, and a business and farm owner. I’m Lynda Reese, equestrian, RN, dog trainer, and former veterinary assistant. We drew from our varied backgrounds and experiences when we collaborated on addressing the many, many issues those rescue horses, (and our own horses!) presented us. The PROSIX was created, and tried, and re-created and modified until we arrived at our present design. We have patents pending for design and function. We have seen divine inspiration throughout this journey, and we continue to be amazed at what the PROSIX can do for the horses who have worn it. We have seen results from the first time a horse has worn the PROSIX, and the promise of healing and strengthening to come.  We are not stopping with just an Equine PROSIX, we will definitely create the same for our Canine Friends.
